£10k Grant for St James

£10k Grant for St James

The Garfield Weston Foundation has awarded a grant of £10,000 to St James' in support of Phase 2 of the church's restoration.  The hard work in preparing the application to the Foundation was led by Lesley Mcclellan, who is also working on applications to other grant-giving bodies.

The Garfield Weston Foundation was established in 1958 by Willard Garfield Weston, a businessman who moved to the Uk with his family in 1932. He was the creator of Associated British Foods and the Foundation was endowed with a donation of family-owned company shares. The Foundation awards grants to charities and similar organisations for projects such as church restoration.

This generous grant will go a significant way towards bridging the gap between the cost of our restoration and the grant we have been awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
